Earth hour brings the world togerther!

Posted by admin under iknownil world

One of the world’s largest global movements literally shut the lights off on our planet last night, March 29, 2008. With some of our largest cities in North America participating we have made our world a better place. Shutting of our lights to prove and show we understand the crisis of global warming is the biggest step we have ever taken to voice our opinions as citizens of the world regarding Global Warming.

Will our governments list? Will we listen? Will we make a difference if only for another day? These are questions we all have that linger in our minds. There’s no true answer to these typical questions. There’s only one thing we can do to ensure conservation and clean living continues. We have to do it ourselves! We have to continue doing things in our lives that are more environmentally clean and then the answers the questions will be yes.

Yes we will make a difference!

Here are some pictures I found searching Google and its pretty cool!

Sydney Australia, the originator of Earth Hour.

Word Earth Hour, join us!

Posted by admin under iknownil world

Tomorrow one of the worlds largest movements towards Global Warming and Environmental living will be taking place. Originated in Sydney Australia, many of the world’s largest cities will be truing off their lights for one full hour. Finally I get to say how proud I am to be Canadian! Over 150 cities in Canada alone will be participating in the event which leaves a huge smile across my face. The most amazing thing is it’s not just your typical home owners or University/College students.  Some of Canada’s biggest landmarks will also be following suite such as, the CN Tower, Niagara Falls, Toronto Eaton Centre, Fairmont Royal York Hotel, Honest Ed’s in Ontario; the Olympic Flag, and the City Hall Clock.

This is a big step towards a more environmentally concerned society and we could seriously use this type of motivation. Please join in with the rest of the world and turn of your lights one hour from 8:00 – 9:00pm March 29 2008.

How can you make a difference or participate?

It’s easy! Simply go to the following website, http://www7.earthhourus.org/ also watch the video. Its amazing 2.2 million people last year, 2007, turned their lights out which was equivalent to taking 45,000 cars off the road!

If you can’t take one hour from your life a year and help reduce usage of our planets resources then yes, you can officially say iknownil!

iknownil has gone green… environmental green!

Posted by admin under iknownil General

Last night I was thinking to myself, why do I blog about stupid people, places and or things. I mean we all know it’s funny but honestly who’s not doing it already right? So I decided that I will now be 100% focusing only on the environment and the never ending global warming crisis. This decision came after I realized I’m one of the only environmental blogs I’ve ever seen to this day. Don’t get me wrong I know there are others but I just haven’t seen any at blogengage yet!

So after debating with myself back and forth with the pro’s and cons of becoming an environmentally friendly blogger I decided it’s better for me, the people that read my blogs and the world in which we live to hear my concerns and suggestions regaring the enviroment.

I urge you to tell your friends about our blog, pass the word that iknownil is an environmental blog where you can learn how to help your planet in the smallest to largest ways!

I haven’t decided what I will be blogging 100% af of yet but I do have some ideals. I will most likely cover topics such as, recycling, energy consumption, fuel efficient automobiles, saving energy and the affect of global warming on our planet.

I’ll help our readers and myself understand the little things we can do in our daily lives to help prevent global warming or atleast reduce the rate it’s coming at. Global warming seems to be a big topic these days and I want to be fighting the battle at the forefront! I want to be a leader when it comes to making environmental changes. Lets help planet earth remain the beauty it is for generations to come, develop reusable energy sources and be cautious with supplies we now take for granted.

I thank all my readers for visiting to read about all the funny shit I wrote but it’s time to get serious and start blogging about things that matter. It’s time to make a difference and we have to start here @ iknownil

Think about the name of the website! I bet over 90% of the world population can officially say iknownil when it comes to global warming and environmental issues. My goal is to help our people, our world and help all my readers understand how they can simply make a difference.

If you think I’m wasting my time, if you think nothing I say will make a difference than you can officially say iknownil

Have Canadians lost faith in the electoral process?

Posted by admin under iknownil People

So I was watching my favorite T.V show and hosted by my favorite political comedian ever, Rick mercer. You might know him from the Mercer report or CBS television. He’s currently also hosting the T.V. show, “The next Canadian Prime Minister” Now I’ve always been a huge fan of this guy and if you were to go to his website, http://www.rickmercer.com/blog/index.cfm  and watch his videos you would understand why I love his work.

The show is actually off Air until the fall so please bear with me as I’m seriously depressed regarding this news! Rick Mercer has a specific part in his show named, “The rant”. In this section of the show Rick walks through streets and alley ways speaking about Canadian Politics and things he believes to be silly and or retarded on the part of the Canadian government.

This week was extremely special and also the most depressing thing I heard in many years! I’m not going to cut around the bushes I’m going to straight out say it and here it is. 72% of the eligible voters in Canada didn’t turn out to a pre election vote! If you’re not Canadian then you might be saying well who really cares but I hope I have some Canadian readers!

This is the biggest no show in Canadian history! It’s funny too because the conservative, liberal, and NDP leaders had many positive things to say regarding the results. But who are they fooling the results only represented 28% Canada’s eligible voters population.

This “no show amount” is a huge number and it simply says one thing and one thing only! We no longer believe in our political system, we no longer believe any of these parties are listening to us and we’re tired of broken promises!

A little heads up for my American readers! Please skip this part if you’re easily offended!  As a Canadian I also follow the American Political system and the electoral process there is more extreme and millions of dollars are spent. The sad part is no one’s talking about what they will do when elected they’re all too busy bad mouthing each other like its kinder garden or something. He said she said, he called me dumb, he pulled my hair when no one was looking etc… You obviously get my point… The system seems to be fading away and when a number like 72% of eligible voters don’t vote you know it’s not just a coincidence!

If the Canadian Electoral System continues on its current path and destroys in one generation what has been standard for several generations before us the Canadian government, Conservative, Liberal, or NDP can officially say iknownil!

The war in Afghanistan, Canadians set date to leave!

Posted by admin under iknownil General

Seems the Canadians think they can sneak out of the war that’s happening in Afghanistan buy 2011! At least that’s what the rumor seems to be anyways… See I didn’t know you could forecast peace in the Middle East like this. So what’s going to happen with this situation? 2011 will come soon and you will still see poverty on the streets, hunger within families and road side bombs continuing daily. What the government doesn’t understand is when we leave the situation will only going to get worse! I personally think setting a time line to leave Afghanistan only allows who we’re fighting the time to prepare for whatever they plan on doing when the Canadian’s do in fact leave.

We started a movement in Afghanistan; we started the revolution that will bring peace and freedom to those who need it most! Now we’re going to take it all back and say. “Hey sorry, but if Afghanistan isn’t fixed by 2011 we’re leaving anyway”?

What is this bullshit?

I’m a Canadian and I don’t think this is right! We have to help re build their community; we have to liberate the people from the terror they live in!

80++ Canadian solders have died since the war in Afghanistan and maybe more. Do you think the 4000 dead solders would want us to leave? How happy do you think they would be if we stopped the war they died for before the goal was reached? Could you go as far to say they died for nothing if we pull out too early?

I live my day with so much freedom and I take for granted what I have in my life. It’s the smallest things that are most important in which I take for granted. These items consist of clean drinking water from a tap, food delivered to my local grocery store, police to protect me from criminals and much more. We not only started a war in Afghanistan but a new way of living. We must help them take for granted what we do in our daily lives. We must build their law enforcement and military so they can defend themselves.

Please don’t leave Afghanistan in 2011, we all know the country isn’t stable enough; we all know they will fail due to inadequate resources and or training. Help them rebuild the country they once dreamed. Help free the people of suppression and the world will be that much more of a better place!

If the Canadians leave Afghanistan the Canadian Government can officially say iknowniil!
