Save the planet, one drive thru at a time!

Posted by admin under iknownil Companies

We all enjoy the luxuries of sitting in our cars or trucks while waiting for our favorite foods or beverages at fast food restaurants but in all reality it’s killing our environment! The amount of carbon monoxide that’s released into our environments is an incredible number which I don’t have the facts for but it’s not rocket science to understand this is probably one of the biggest carbon monoxide producing environments on our planet! Sitting in the drive thru letting your car idle for 15 minutes sometimes has to be, and should be stopped immediately. All the major companies such and Tim Horton’s, Star Bucks, Burger King, McDonald’s, Wendy’s, and any other fast food restaurants should be forced by the government to stop allowing this to happen. Drive thru shouldn’t be allowed in today’s society because it’s killing our planet not to mention making half of North America fat as hell.

I decided to walk over to Google again to see if I could find some interesting facts related to fast food drive thru pollution and how it affects our environment. After making one simple search I found many articles stating that my claim is correct, it’s killing the ozone layer and the air we breathe. Please save our planet and stop sitting in your car waiting for a coffee. Get off your lazy ass and go into the store. Think about your kids, kids, kids who won’t even have fresh air to breathe when trying to raise their family. Previous generations have fucked up so bad and didn’t think about the impact their actions would have on our current generation and the environment. The only thing they care about is making money and then on top of that maybe a little more money.

We see the ice caps melting in Northern Canada yet we don’t seem to understand the complexity of the situation. Our government continues to promise things will be fixed, pollution will be reduced but I know and you know its all lies. The government of Canada just released the action Canadians will be taking to meet the Kyoto agreement and I myself am disgusted with what the Prime Minister has stated for our goals. I have quoted this statement from Canada’s recent thrown speech and I wanted to share it with you.

“As we pursue a global consensus, Canada is acting even more aggressively at home. Our Government will implement our national strategy to reduce Canada’s total greenhouse gas emissions 60 to 70 percent by 2050. There will be a 20 percent reduction by 2020. Our Government will bring forward the elements from Canada’s Clean Air Act, which had all-party consensus, for parliamentary consideration.”

“At the end of 2005, Canada’s greenhouse gas emissions were 33 percent above the Kyoto commitment. It is now widely understood that, because of inaction on greenhouse gases over the last decade, Canada’s emissions cannot be brought to the level required under the Kyoto Protocol within the compliance period, which begins on January 1, 2008, just 77 days from now.”

http://www.sft-ddt.gc.ca/eng/media.asp?id=1364

They don’t care about the environment, all they care about is generating income and driving their Mercedes Benz, this is the sad but realistic truth. This is honestly the first time I was ever embarrassed to truly be called a Canadian. We should be at the front of the initiative and the first thing to do would be to eliminate all Drive Thru’s in the Country of Canada. Even tho this action wouldn’t allow us to meet the previous agreement with Kyoto it would show our country was seriously dedicated to becoming a leader in saving our environment.

So the next time your waiting for your order sitting in your car polluting our environment you can think about this mini article I wrote and also tell yourself…

I sit here thinking about what I’m going to write this evening when I received a phone call from my better half, (girlfriend) saying she had just won $10,000 at the dam bingo. I know right now I should be happy about this but I’m always Anti bingo to be honest. I’m always criticizing my girlfriend for wasting her money in this retarded place week after week when she rarely wins anything. I also think the rest of the people in that bingo hall are retarded money spenders as well. This doesn’t count if you’re retired, if you’re retired then its okay.

I’m not too sure where you’re from but to play bingo here in Canada it’s approximately 35 Canadian dollars a game and the majority of people play 2 games. So on average if you go to Bingo once a week playing 2 games per night you’re looking at spending 280.00 Canadian dollars a month on Bingo. For the average family in Canada that’s a lot of money, thankful enough for my family were not exactly average, mind you we’re far from riches as well. Also note my girlfriend doesn’t play that often as well and if she read this without me saying that I would be dead, lol. So back to this wasting money and so called past time “bingo”. What do users get out of it? The thrill of winning the normal 90% of the time nothing!

Imagine these people playing over 10 years; let’s do the math shall we? 280.00 Canadian dollars per month multiplied by 10 years equals out to be a total of 33,600 Canadian dollars. I also want to take a look at the odds of winning when playing bingo in a nice sized bingo hall. I’ve seen over 200 people play the same game of bingo when it was 10,000 ++ jackpot so I will use the number of 200 to figure a single persons odds. When we look at the simple math we see you have a 1 out 200 chances to be calling bingo for the jackpot 0.5 percent. This mean the chances are very small and I would suggest not ever going, save your money and soon it will reach a jackpot size.

But it doesn’t matter what I prove in stats tonight, my old lady s coming home with 10,000 Canadian dollars and it’s from taking the 0.5 percent change and playing bingo. Tonight for the first time I have to say with 10,000 dollars in the bank,

Vista under fire, criticized by many!

Posted by admin under iknownil Companies

Microsoft has seen better days when releasing new operating systems. Vista, Microsoft’s newest operating system has been under fire with criticism for several months yet the issues business and home users are having continues to exist for most. I have been reading many articles regarding the new operating system and I’m also running Vista live with sp1 in my home. First of all I want to discuss the ridicules Windows Vista recommended system requirements. Remember this is for Vista Home Basic and not Ultimate.

* 1 GHz 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor

* 512 MB of system memory

* 20 GB hard drive with at least 15 GB of available space

* Support for DirectX 9 graphics and 32 MB of graphics memory

Now let’s be honest! There is no way you’re going to be running Windows Vista and all your other needed/daily programs on this little amount of system resources, especially if you’re a business. If you do decide to run the computer as a business with your applications and security programs running in the background this means you will be reducing productivity from your employees. You’re better off staying with XP Pro and maintaining your company’s productivity. If you’re a home user it’s going to be even worse. You’re not going to run Vista and Norton’s while surfing the web, you’re pc will be so slow it’s going to be shoot out the window. I know this for a fact because like I mentioned I’m currently running Vista and the following specification is what’s on my desktop.

  • NEW Intel® Pentium® D Dual Core Processor 840 (3.20GHz, 800MHz FSB, 2MB cache) HT Technology
  • NVIDIA® nForce4 SLITM X16 MCP chipset
  • 1GB Dual channel DDR2-800MHz SDRAM,
  • 500 GB3 SATA II internal storage (single drive)

Now when I’m running Vista it’s pretty smooth but if I start doing a Virus scan and surfing the net I notice a major performance difference. I currently have 2 operating systems on my desktop and to test what the performance difference is I boot up Windows xp and simply do the same actions, run a scan, surf the net and I have zero performance loss. Vista was poorly designed to handle stress and performance stress tests compared to the XP pro release some years earlier.

Microsoft has attempted to make all businesses and home users of personal computers upgrade their current hardware even if it’s relatively good like mine. I think the company should have been making Vista so that it ran exceptionally great on my personal pc mentioned above without performance loss at any time. Another issue I personally have with Vista is all the permissions and questions the Operating system asks when you literally do anything with the computer. Installing programs, deleting files and even when you want to remove programs, it asks for confirmation always. I have learned to turn this off but I mean could Microsoft blindly call us bigger idiots?

Enough about what I think let’s take a walk over to Google and type in, Vista Problems shall we?

The problems with Vista lay bare

Part Two what might have been?

By Liam Proven: Thursday, 22 March 2007, 10:07 AM

http://www.theinquirer.net/en/inquirer/news/2007/03/22/the-problems-with-vista-laid-bare

The article pretty much complains about the performance issues and how Apple has been releasing software that is always shows an increase in performance and stability where as Microsoft has failed to do since earlier os releases. Read the article if you’re interested but I’m moving on. If you’re a gamer good luck getting to play all the new releases! You’re going to find yourself stressed out, on the net trying to download all the right drivers for yourself. Look I run windows vista very well besides the Virus scan exceptions but I still play my games on the xp operating system and I will continue to do so. As for the majority of the pc market you have to and it’s unfortunate seeing you should be able to with the recommend requirements as mentioned earlier.

Researcher: Vista prevents users playing high-def content

Researcher outlines numerous features that harm system performance, calling Vista’s content protection rules ‘the longest suicide note in history’

By Jon Brodkin, Network World

August 10, 2007

This Article talks about how Vista implemented a no high def concept so that when you rip and burn your movies they won’t play at high def quality. I don’t get affected by this but what about the millions of users that back up their original copies of movies and only watch the backed version via s video from the pc? When asked by bbc, Microsoft stated, “they are common features of many playback devices”. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/6286245.stm

Whatever Microsoft, stop trying to maintain dominance over individuals inside their own homes and let them do what they want with their pc’s. You can’t sell people a product and also tell them how to use it, especially if it harms no one during usage. For releasing Vista prematurely and highly over rated as it currently is regarding Security, Performance, and Compatibility I would have to say without question…

Television viewers a dying breed! Time to take action

Posted by admin under iknownil Companies

As we all know the internet has come a long way in the past five years. The Internet users alone have dramatically risen to approximately 1,244,449,601 users. Society is no longer sitting at their T.V and spending countless hours watching pointless shows. Yes I know I love watching my favorite shows too, but it’s just not on TV well not exactly. A total 9000 people at a specific Private Bit Torrent Site I recently visited downloaded shows such as House, Prison Break, and Heroes. If you’re not aware these are the biggest and most broadcasted shows across North America. This figure I give you happens weekly at this one site and also happens at 100’s of other sites on the www. Think of the lost viewer these producing companies are losing. Company’s like Fox Entertainment, Canadian Broadcasting Company, HBO and many more. When will these companies learn that the consumer today doesn’t have the time to sit in front of their TV every Tuesday at 8:00 and watch their favorite shows? Just to support a family today both parents are normally working full time and are taking care of next day preparations or sleeping when free time has been given to them. I have seen many great TV shows discontinue due to the amount of people that just download the copy instead. A great example here was the TV shows Jericho, that show was canceled after the first year but all I heard was positive reviews. None the less these companies will continue to lose market share if they remain TV orientated and don’t start offering all TV broadcasts online available for viewing or downloading via a Bit Torrent clients. Stop trying to fight the system when you can beat them all at their own game. Starts collecting royalties from the ISP’s and allow us to download the information or shows legally. I would gladly pay a fair price to HBO and other TV broadcasting companies for server access and the ability to download all my favorite shows. Give it a try because if you don’t you’re going to be out of business in no times. TV is dying bread get out while you still can! For all those companies wasting billions of dollars fighting piracy crime save you money and start treating Bit Torrent sites like they were competition. For some reason you’re not understanding or accepting this change and for that I must conclude with one statement

Social networking faces uncertain future

Posted by admin under iknownil General

So I was visiting a friend’s forum today, http://forums.ukwebmasterworld.com and I noticed he posted a link to an article that was related to social networking and the uncertain future it has with only so much room for this continuation of extraordinary growth.

Written By Natasha Lomas, Silicon.com

Published on ZDNet News: Oct 19, 2007 10:02:00 AM

The article does state that the increase from now to 2012 will be substantial but at this point (2012) will come to a plateau. As I continued reading the article I noticed they quoted some figures which I found very exciting. When you see figures in an article you know they have done the market research and taken the time to estimate or forecast the income generated from Google and other income generating companies in the social networking market. This is not the point, nor the reasoning for me writing this blog, but I will admit the numbers are impressive and I would recommend developing income generating websites for profit ASAP!

I’m writing this blog to discuss the prediction of this “plateau” they are forecasting and I’m simply not going to agree. I recently graduated from Business Administration Marketing and in my MKT206 Advertising class I had to develop a product or service, and prove from doing market research that there was in fact a market and a need for this product or service. I will get to the point in a moment but first I must tell you the project. I decided to develop a Web Browser for web surfing but I designed it to do way more the simply browse the web. I also made the product specific for foreign countries. That’s right I’m not talking America, Canada, or Europe, I’m talking Asia, Middle East, Africa. There was one main reason I choose these countries, and it was simply for the growth potential and lack of market competition. The web browser would be specifically designed for them and their language. As you can imagine I had to do research and find information pertaining to these countries and their current internet users. I had to find information regarding number of users, possible sales now and in the future. Most importantly I had to prove the market had growth potential and this is what I did. For all these reasons I had to find information pertaining to the internet access per user inside these countries. Well I did just that and this is why I know the Plateau will not happens in 2012 and we have a long time generate income from social networking communities and I strongly believe they will continue to grow many more years after 2012. Let’s have a look at some numbers shall we? I will also provide the links to this information and numbers I’m about to show.

http://www.internetworldstats.com/stats.htm

From this link you can obviously see that these countries have large growth potential, specifically Africa. Look at Africa’s stats right now they only have 4.7 % internet penetration at the moment. This means that 95.3% of the 1 billion people don’t have internet. Growth Potential! Now as an even better example let’s have a look at Asia. Only 12.4 % of the population only has internet. I also would like to make a quick comparison to ensure you understand the size of this potential and literally untapped market. Asia is 10 times larger than North America in population sitting at 3 billion and 300 million is currently the population of America. 70.2 %of North Americans currently have the internet and only makes up 5.1 % of the world internet users. Let’s do the math and see what potential market growth Asia would have if they reached the same % (%72) of internet users as North America did. The math is very simple, what’s 72% of 3 billion people? For easy math sakes let’s make it a simple 70%. The market potential at 70% for Asia would be 2.1 billion internet users! (Approximately)

Sony PS3 is rolling back prices

Posted by admin under iknownil Companies

Alright so we all know that the PS3 is extremely over priced even when comparing it to the completive consoles such as Nintendo wii and the xbox 360. Sony has been struggling with sales ever since the first release date and can’t seem to get sales up no matter what they do! The company is now reporting lowest quarterly sales ever in history for the once market dominating Sony PlayStation. Considering what’s inside the PS3 some wonder if it’s even worth the money to purchase the system when you can get a very similar console for 300 USD less called the xbox 360 or for even less money the Nintendo wii. Sony reported the other day they are releasing a new PS3 with less specs but the price is dramatically cheaper.

The specs for the new PS3: two USB ports, a 40GB hard drive, no PS2 game-playing. This compares favorably with the 80GB PS3, which has four USB ports and backward compatibility, but which will set you back $100 more, at $499. (It used to be $599; Sony, smartly, cut that price too.)

In the end it seems Sony has really over estimated the need for a new system and I think the company is regretting the high markup they added to the PS3 in the beginning. So what does this all mean to the end consumer? Well Sony is offering you a cheaper system but they are also offering less functionality. One of the major concerns is the lack of backwards compatibility when wanting to play PS2 or PS1 games. What are they thinking? 99% of the people willing to purchase a PS3 are going to want to play there old PS2 and PS1 games. If they can’t I honestly don’t think they will even play PS3 or buy one for this matter. So will this increase the sales for the company? The answer is no. The company has been successful only because they have always had backwards compatibility. This functionality allowed the Sony to maintain their market share and even gain more from their competitors.

In the end all this new release will do is gain new market share due to the cheaper pricing strategy and it will not bring back previous market share as the PS2 and PS1 user have already purchased the wii or xbox by now. Sony you’re in deep shit and you’re marketing department should be fired immediately! If there was anything you should have done, it would have been to lower the price of the current PS3 system without manufacturing a newer model to sell that has little to no functionality compared to all you previous systems.

Flammable Toilets Burning Buttocks

Posted by admin under iknownil Companies

That’s right you read the title correctly. A company out of Japan “Toto,” has announced a major recall on their Z series automatic toilet because they’re catching fire. The Z series comes with interesting features such as the tornado wash flush, pulsating message spray, and of course the automated lid.

“Fortunately nobody was using the toilets when the fire broke out and there were no injuries,” a company spokesman said.

“The fire would have been just under your buttocks,” she added.

Okay hold up did this spokesperson just say it was “only just under the buttocks”? I can’t be reading this right because if I was to pick a place not to be burnt it would probably be “under my buttocks” especially when sitting on the toilet. Anyways I will assume this spokesperson hasn’t had the experience of their balls setting on fire when shitting, if they even have balls at all! I guess because the spokesperson has no clue what that would probably feel like I will assume it’s a woman or he has no balls at all as mentioned earlier.

so I’m saying this with pleasure as always.

Britney Spears Booked On Traffic Charges

Posted by admin under iknownil People

Spears

Alright so here we go again with the spear huh? HAHA this chick will never learn will she? I guess she was parking her car just weeks after getting her California’s drivers license and scratched another person’s car as she was parking. The article said she looked at the damage on her car and continued on with what she was there to do. Days later the other car owner reported the hit and run on his vehicle and I guess because someone got it all on tape Spears turned herself in to the police station. Spears was later charged with one misdemeanor count each of hit-and-run and driving without a California driver’s license, and is scheduled to be arraigned on the charges October 25 in Van Nuys Superior Court. Each count carries a maximum penalty of six months in jail or a $1,000 fine. If she would have only left a note for the other driver she could have solved this issues herself without having any charges laid.

Apple Could Face Lawsuit Over ‘Toxic’ iPhone

Posted by admin under iknownil Companies

‘Toxic’ iPhone

http://www.abcnews.go.com/Technology/story?id=3736524&page=1

A consumer watchdog group is considering a lawsuit against Apple, after the release of a Greenpeace report that alleges the company’s iPhone contains toxic chemicals, though some critics have labeled the study a publicity stunt. According to the conservation group’s report, scientists at Greenpeace Research Laboratories at the U.K.’s University of Exeter who dismantled the phone and tested 18 of its components found brominated flame retardants (BFRs) and polyvinyl chloride (PVC). Greenpeace claims BFRs can release toxic chemicals when recycled, and products with PVC have come under fire in the past few years for potentially leaking harmful chemicals.

Alright so when I first read this I thought the iphone releasing chemicals was going to be the funny part but it turns out after reading the article the government is even more retarded. “Under the Proposition 65 law, the product can’t be legally sold without a warning notice.” This means the iphone product seller can just make up some lame warning label and sell a poisoness product to it’s consumers and the government won’t say a darn thing. Is this the type of government you want looking after you country? By the way the product will be hitting the street of California so if you visiting the states make sure to bring a spare iphone case because you don’t want to purchase one there.

Man dies after Taser shock

Posted by admin under iknownil People

Vancouver - A passenger died in Vancouver airport after police tried to calm him by using a stun gun, it was reported on Monday. He was stunned twice by an electric shock from a Taser before he passed out and died in the arrivals area shortly afterwards, Canadian newspaper Globe and Mail reported. The man, yet to be identified, had pounded on windows, tossed chairs about and tipped over his baggage cart. According to the newspaper, the man, who is believed to be an Eastern European in his 40s, is already the 16th victim in Canada who has died after the use of the controversial shock device.

All of the victims were comparably young, between 28 and 44-years-old.

The newspaper cited Vancouver lawyer Cameron Ward as saying that more than 300 people in North America have died since 2003 after they were stunned by a Taser. Ward criticized the fact that the gun generating a 50 000-volt electrical charge had been introduced in Canada without any independent safety testing and demanded it should not be used any more. The police have not yet released the identity of the man, who had arrived in Vancouver shortly before the incident. - Sapa-dpa
